BLAINE, Hal Lee May 26, 1956 - Sept 07, 2013 . It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather and friend to many, Hal Blaine on Sept 07/2013 at the Cowichan District Hospital with his family by his side. Predeceased by his parents, John and Melva Blaine. He leaves behind his children, John (Kari), Rob, Natasha (Brian), grandchildren, Brayden, Austin, Dylan and one soon to be, his brothers and sisters, mother of his children, Irene, many sister and brother in laws, nieces and nephews. Hal was born in Pittsburg, California and moved to the Cowichan Valley with his family in 1968. He started a family of his own in Crofton where he volunteered with the Crofton Fire Department for many years. In 1988, Hal and his family moved to Sahtlam.Hal worked many years in the glass industry, but in recent years he made a career change to a Cowichan Valley transit driver, where he enjoyed the interaction with his coworkers and passengers on a daily basis. Hal also really enjoyed being the caretaker at the Cowichan Exhibition Grounds where he resided. Dad had a busy life and worked very hard to provide for his family. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time with his family and telling the occasional joke. Dad had many talents, from building a dirt bike from a box of parts to teaching a dog to talk, as well as he could fix just about anything. He will be deeply missed by all family and friends. Our family would like to thank the ER staff and 2nd floor nurses at the Cowichan District Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held for Hal at Mellor Hall, Cowichan Exhibition Grounds on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 11:30-3:30pm.
"Always in our thoughts, Forever in our hearts.
