Hans MICHEL Obituary

MICHEL, Hans "50-50" - In Memory August 3, 1922 - May 25, 2015 Hans Michel, better known as "50-50", of Richmond Hill, Ontario, died peacefully on May 25, 2015 at the age of 92, at Sherwood Court Long Term Care after a thirteen year battle with prostate cancer. Born August 3, 1922 in Colditz, East Germany, he was the only child of the late Otto and Grete Michel. Hans joined the military in 1940 in the Gliding Division. In 1954, Hans graduated from night school as a Tool and Die Maker and in the same year crossed the Atlantic by ship to immigrate to Canada. From 1955 to 1990, Hans worked at de Havilland, McDonnell Douglas, Bell Aerospace and Field Aviation. Hans enjoyed travelling by car. His most memorable trip was a nine week expedition to Inuvik, NT with his family in a Volkswagen camperized van. Hans is survived by his wife, Inge Michel and daughters, Karin (Kevin) and Heidi (Ed). In accordance with Hans' wishes, there will be no memorial service. The family is grateful to the staff at Sherwood Court for the care they provided. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
