HANS MUELLER Obituary

MUELLER, HANS We are deeply saddened by the passing of our Dad, Opa and husband, Hans Mueller, who passed away on February 2, 2022 at the age of 83 following a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Rita (née Christmann) for 58 years. Cherished father to Edith Watters (Michael), Claus Mueller (Paula), Michael Mueller (Valeria) and Tanya Freeman (Eric). Opa to Taylor Mueller, Cameron Watters, Avery Watters, Kody Mueller, Alexander Mueller, Sophie Freeman, Gabriella Mueller and Samuel Freeman. Loved by his siblings Berthold (Helga), Gertrud Gigler (Franz) and Wolfram. Predeceased by his parents Josef and Hedwig (née Funk). Remembered by many in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family in Germany. Born and raised in Suessen, Germany, Hans was an avid soccer player and very involved in the youth group at his church. He started his apprenticeship in the tool and die industry in Goeppingen, Germany. Always up for an adventure, Hans convinced his new bride to move to Canada for a "temporary" job, a move which lasted 58 years. True to his precise nature, Hans had four children, two girls and two boys, followed by eight grandchildren, four girls and four boys. He also retired from the same company after exactly 50 years to the day of service. Hans loved to travel, including his great enjoyment of many cruises, trips abroad, road trips to either coast of Canada as well as camping at various provincial parks. He was also known to throw some great parties, sparing no decorating detail in themed New Year's Eve and summer picnic gatherings. He had a passion for golf and enjoyed playing as many rounds as he could manage in the summer months. Hans' creative talents extended to his love of painting, his keen ability to build or repair most anything required and his strong dedication and involvement for many years as a founding member in the St. Patrick's Choir that sang for Pope John Paul II in Italy. Family was of utmost importance to Hans, and his grandchildren specifically kept him young at heart. He was immensely proud of each one along with their accomplishments and he enjoyed all the good times spent together. He leaves behind a strong legacy for us all to try to live up to. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 6th from 2-4 p.m. at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home (166 Main St. North, Markham L3P 1Y3). A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 7th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark's Church in Stouffville (345 Glad Park Ave., Whitchurch-Stouffville, ON L4A 1E4). In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Dear Rita and Family, our deepest condolences to you all during this difficult time.
We didn't know Hans for very long, we were your neighbours for such a short time on Hagen Hollow, and our memories of Hans was of a very kind and generous man, always smiling and wanting to lend a hand, he really touched our hearts and will always be remembered fondly.

To : Rita and family,
My deepest sympathy on Hans´ passing. He truly represented the best in all things good as a husband, father, grandfather and citizen; a man of faith and conviction whose life was a window on to decency and goodness. He is remembered at Mill Run Golf Course for his love and enjoyment of the game of golf, which was always that bit more pleasant and enjoyable when Hans was part of the foursome.
Well done Hans ! You will be missed as one of the very best. Now rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the loving light of Jesus, as reward for a life well lived and your multiple contributions towards the betterment of society.
Sincerely and with deep sympathy,
Tom O´Leary, Markham, On.
