HAROLD SNOW Obituary

HAROLD (HAL) LEIGHTON SNOW September 24, 1939 - February 18, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful man, Harold (Hal) Leighton Snow, at the age of 73 from complications due to lymphoma. Hal shared a deep and abiding love with Val, his "bride" of 44 years. Loving and ever present father to Karen Parente and Ryan (Kim) Snow; doting Poppa of Aiden Parente and Jordan Kelemen-Snow; youngest brother of Valence (Roma) Snow, Ruby Tucker, Lorna Harvey and Howie (Carol) Snow; brother-in-law of Doug Pike and David (Rose) Walters of Cornwall, England. Predeceased by his parents Hilda and Howard Snow and siblings Keith Snow and Nita Pike. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and associates. Hal was a robust man and larger than life. He loved deeply, always smiled broadly with a twinkle in his eye and was generous in lending a hand to anyone in need. Hal retired at 65 after a career in the automotive aftermarket. He loved tennis, anything on wheels, his workshop and his bird carving collection - most of which he lovingly crafted by his own hand. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Li, Dr. Nay, Dr. Shaver and Dr. Levine along with the Community Care Access Centre and the Canadian Red Cross for their support through this journey. The family would also like to thank the incredibly compassionate and dedicated nurses within the Cancer and Palliative Care Unit, Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie. The family will hold a visitation on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home located at 201 Minet's Point Road, Barrie. The Celebration of Life will be held in the same location on Friday, March 1st at 11 a.m. with refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in support of the Cancer and Palliative Care Unit, Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie so that their important work may continue.
