My husband and I knew Harold and Claire through their daughter Ellen and the Daybreak community. Harold's warm and personable greetings when we met him at community events always made me feel like I mattered. When Tim and I decided to marry almost 11 years ago, we had no idea where to turn for wedding rings. We asked Harold, of course, and he made sure we were well taken care of by someone he trusted. We are grateful to Harold and Claire for bringing Ellen to Daybreak and grateful to have crossed paths with such a good man.

I sit with tears streaming down my face as I hear of Harold's passing. I am Bud,s daughter, and I know how much my dad loved Weiner. They are no doubt together now, sharing their terrible Sudbury High jokes. My heartfelt condolences, he was so lovely.

My heart goes out to Harold's family, especially to Claire, Susan and Ellen. I lived with Ellen in Daybreak for many years, sharing daily life together with her. We remain friends even though I am now in Winnipeg. The devotion of her family was very much a part of my relationship with Ellen. I knew Harold to be a father committed to the wellbeing of his family. He loved to pass on his philosophy of life, gleaned from his own lived experiences, at every occasion! He had a warm welcome for all of us connected to his daughter and a respect for the ideals of the L'Arche communities. Though I hadn't seen Harold for several years, I will miss his presence. My deepest condolences to all his family and friends.

Harold was a wonderful, kind and generous man, great husband, caring pet owner and an amazing father. My heart goes out to his family along with my deepest condolences. I wish to send my special condolences to his daughter Ellen, who is a very special person and whom I knew well and still care for deeply. With all my love.
