HELEN WOO Obituary

WOO, HELEN MIAO YUN February 1, 1935 - June 20, 2018 With very heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Helen, age 83, on June 20, 2018 with close family by her side. Helen was the beloved and cherished wife of Stanley for over 54 years, loving and devoted mother to Frances (Stanley), Jeffrey (Michelle) and Benjamin (Lucy) and adoring grandmother to Nicholas, Adam, Selene, Ryan and Brayden. She will be sadly missed by her siblings, nephews and nieces, and fondly remembered by her friends in Canada and abroad. Helen was our angel on earth - a beautiful, considerate, humble and resilient woman. Born in Guangzhou, China and raised both in China and Taiwan, she came to Canada on her own in her early 20s. She worked, toiled, studied nursing and was manager extraordinaire for Stanley (medical office, home and everything else!). Helen loved tennis, singing, gardening, MJ with friends and traveling. As a wife and mother, Helen was the kindest and gentlest part of us, with a capacity to nurture and love that was boundless. She cared for her own and Stanley's parents throughout many decades and as the eldest of 10 siblings, helped look after them when younger. Always graceful and generous of heart, Helen believed in the goodness of people and was an inspiration to all those she touched. Visitation will be held at R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St. on Friday, July 6th from 5-9 p.m. Funeral service is at the funeral home on Saturday, July 7th at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 8361 Yonge St., and reception thereafter.

Our families knew Helen and Stanley for many years and how hard they worked in bringing up their family and extended family. Often times over the ensuing years we met at mutual celebrations for friends and relatives and as many do, to catch up. When I took early retirement I chose to follow my wish to play ladies' daytime league tennis and it was there that we became reacquainted. Helen was always very enthusiastic and happy as most tennis players are when enjoying their sport having fun and socializing. We met again at my aunts 100 birthday party and enjoyed pleasantries.
Please accept our heartfelt sympathies to the whole family and also from the Young Family.
