Even after all this time - 15 years gone - it is so difficult to comprehend that you are no longer with us. We continue to miss you every day, yet we are able to enjoy and embrace the memories of years gone by, when you were still with us.
You worked so hard to reach your goals, and had so much to offer the world. You were a role model for your cousins, and loved and admired by the whole family. You are always in our hearts.

The Lauder family,
I found out today about Ian. What a wonderful young man I first met in 1995, on the Marlies. I was fortunate to always work the "D" door, I would have the greatest conversations with Ian. He was a true inspiration, and one of the people that took the time to first skate with my son , who was 5 at the time.
Ian was a fine young man, funny, considerate, gritty, a true team player - not a selfish bone in him.
May God bless the Lauder family and the memories of Ian forever live in all of us.

Brianne and Ryan hosted their first Christmas in their new house. Erin, Keith, Mom and I were there. I know that you enjoyed Mom's beautiful four candle tribute to you. We all felt your presence and enjoyed spending the Christmas with you.

I went to school with Ian at Carleton. He was always friendly, kind and pleasant to be around. He had a good spirit to life. He made sure he enjoyed what he had. Dear Bev, Mike, Brianne, and Erin,
I have struggled for days debating what to write in remembrance of one of the finest people I have had the honor of calling a friend. The first time I met Ian, he was shirtless, as he often was, and I thought to myself “I had better make sure this guy never has a reason to get mad at me.” This feeling did not last long, however, because it quickly became apparent that I had met one of the nicest, most genuine, fun loving people on Earth.
Words can not describe the magnitude of this loss. He was a great friend, a hero (he saved my sister in-law’s life in a boating accident), a larger than life personality, and one of the finest men I have ever met.
I am lucky to have known him.

Although I had lost touch with Ian since his early school days; his name was often brough up in conversation by my son Ben - I remember so fondly balancing their birthday parties with you Bev (as they were born the same day and year) so they could attend each others party. During these last few years Ben would talk so fondly of his friendship with Ian and how they never forgot to get together or send an email to each other on May 27; how much he enjoyed your holiday get togethers and what a wonderful family you have. Ian's untimely death has affected us all; and it is with deep sorrow that I write this message. I want you to know that all of you are in my prayers as you work through the loss of your wonderful son. A professor at the U of T once told me "it's not that we are born; it's about the life that we live" -- in his 27 years Ian impacted the lives of everyone he met in an unforgettable way. I met Ian at GDLS-C and worked with him in Production and Engineering.
Ian was always there to help and with smile on his face. He had desire to learn and to make a difference in engineering. Ian was a great person to work with and at the same time his warm personality made him very special.

There are only a few true friends in life and I must say Ian was one of them both at work and school. Please accept my condolences. Ian will be missed by all that knew him.

My hear stopped and I was breathless as I read about this terrible loss. I am simply devastated. I considered Ian a good friend and a 1st class individual. Ian's parents should be commended for raising such an outstanding young man that was taken from all of us far too soon. I met Ian at Extreme fitness in Pickering 4 years ago and shared his passion for motorcycles, fitness and travel. My deepest condolences go out to all Ian's family and friends. God bless all of you.

Words alone cannot express how we feel at this time. We have been brought up to trust in God and his plan. It's times like this that make us question his timing and means. At Ian's birth you gave him to God and he in turn let you borrow him for 27 years. The Lord has now called him home. It does not make it any easier I know. God also gave you the ability to make and maintain great memories of a great son. This he will never take away. One day we shall all see Ian's great smile and hear him laugh. What a day that will be.
