IRENE MARION DeSIMONE (nee WRIGHT) It is with profound sadness that Irene's family announces her passing on the morning of Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Markham-Stouffville Hospital following a valiantly fought battle with cancer. Born in 1947 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Irene was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She will always be remembered as a truly gentle and caring person with a great love of animals and was in turn loved by all who knew her. Beloved wife, partner and best friend to husband Tony, devoted and loving mother to Sarah (Santino), and Stephen, proud Grandmother to Madysen, cherished sister to Annette (Charlie), Jack (Kathryn) and Robert (Susan) she will be sorely missed by all her many nieces, nephews and extended family. Friends will be received at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main St. North (Markham Rd.), Markham, on Friday June 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Parish, 5633 Highway 7 (east of McCowan) on Saturday June 13 at 10:30 a.m. Cremation. Irene's family would like to express our thanks to all the nurses and doctors at Markham-Stouffville Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital, who helped care for her.
