Here are the memories of a few long-serving colleagues from Concordia's John Molson School of Business

I hired Irene as she completed her Ph.D. She was as enthusiastic about her new teaching career and working in academia and Concordia as she was when she was later appointed Associate Dean six years later. She was missed when she moved to Toronto and will be missed by those who knew her and appreciated her charm, warmth and commitment. May she rest in peace. Steven Appelbaum

Irene took me under her wing when I arrived as a young prof at Loyola Campus in 1984. She taught me, as she put it, the ropes to skip and the ropes to know.' Fond memories. Mick Carney

I recall working with her developing, writing, presenting and publishing a joint research project on women in academia. We learned together about writing collegially, and I have fun memories of work and play at a conference we attended in Chicago. Linda Dyer

I am saddened to hear of Irene's passing. I remember her as a competent colleague and a wonderful person with whom I had many pleasant conversations. Bob Oppenheimer

It was a pleasure to work with Irenea kind, positive person with strong integrity. Gary Johns

Irene had significant influence on my academic career. As my MBA supervising professor, she was generous with her time and always unflinchingly supportive. She also provided incredible access in a non-digital world. I still recall her answering machine message from decades ago, where she invited callers to leave a message for the "Devine women"...and yes, she was indeed divine...My accessibility and relationship with my own students continues to be largely influenced by her commitment and devotion that I experienced first-hand. Condolences to the entire family. Robert Soroka

She was generous to me, full of laughter and was really involved in her teaching. Chris Ross

Irene will be missed by all of us. My heart goes to her daughter and loved ones. Bakr Ibrahim

A model professor in terms of teaching excellence, Irene was a very welcoming individual. Despite a brief tenure with us, Irene certainly made her mark. She contributed greatly to the cause of gender equity in an era of awakening at Concordia, and 'walked the talk' in becoming one of the first female decanal team members in Concordia's business school history. We are saddened by the news of her passing, and extend our deepest sympathies to all of her family. Bryan Barbieri

I suspect some of Irene's happiest moments were at the bridge table. She will be greatly missed by myself and many other bridge players for whom she always had a ready smile. Rest in peace Irene.
