Father Breen was a sweet and gentle soul. He was always inclusive and welcoming. His words were always easy to understand and encouraging. What a wonderful legacy he leaves behind at St. Thomas. What a lovely send-off he received today at his funeral. God Bless. We will remember you with fondness.

A few years ago, my first admiration for Fr. Basil Breen was seeing him and his brother would stand up for Pro-Life with parishioners. Also, I admired his strength that even though he was not well; he was there to listen to confessions and celebrate mass. Good a faithful servant of God may you rest in peace in the arms of Jesus.

I had the pleasure and honour of working with Fr. Basil Breen at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Parish, Port Credit, Mississauga. We worked together on the Church bulletin every week using a Gestetner copier. He was a beautiful person in and out. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed,, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

My family all remembers when Father Breen joined the St. Thomas the Apostle parish when we held Sunday masses at the gymnasium at Mother Teresa Catholic School. Under his guidance, the church was built directly across the street, and the parish grew. He was honest and kind and was also a great teacher. Rest in peace, Father Breen.

Father Breen will be dearly missed. He married my husband and I 26 years ago. Although we have moved away from the parish to our area in Richmond Hill, my husband and I always keep Father Breen near and dear to our hearts. Rest peacefully near God.
