Jack was a highly-respected leader and a real gentleman. He was also kind enough to give me my very first start with Hydro, when he gave me a summer job on the "tree spade" crew screening rights-of-way at roadsides in and around Toronto. That ultimately led to my career with Hydro! Thank you, Jack!!

Jack Winter , the ultimate coach,as his team of Forestry Superintendents won the Presidents Award when Ontario Hydro was acknowledged world leader ,most notably for their use of herbicides and their best performer status in terms of maintenance costs and service.
and let us not forget the card games at lunch time, they were so much fun.
thanks for the memories, you were one of a kind.

Jack was my first Boss and he was as tall as a tree. He was such a kind soul and I will always remember him and his funny ways. He used to walk the rough rights-of-ways and dictate into his recorder at the same time and them bring it to me to translate - we always had a laugh. My deep condolences to Jack's family. As Chief Forester and Manager of Transmission Environment at Ontario Hydro Jack inspired many young Foresters and Environmental staff with his dedication, leadership and good humour. He will be dearly missed by many Hydro friends and colleagues.
