Jacqueline Chu Obituary

JACQUELINE HOPE CHU 1965 - 2010 After a brave and courageous battle with cancer, Jackie Chu (nee Choo-Kang) has gone home to be with our Lord on July 5, 2010. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital. Jackie, a devout Christian, was a loving wife to Stephen and a caring mother to Alexander and Madeleine of Hong Kong. She was also a precious daughter to Clinton and Wai Kwan Choo-Kang of Thornhill, Ontario and a wonderful sister to Annabelle Wong and family and a dear sister to James Choo-Kang of Toronto, Ontario. Jackie, a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and the University of Toronto, served as a Registered Nurse at the Sunnybrook Medical Centre in Toronto upon graduation. Shortly after her marriage in 1993 to Stephen, son of Henry and Mary Chu of Toronto, she continued her nursing career at the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital after they relocated to the former British Colony. Jackie will be remembered by all for her patient, warm and loving personality. She especially loved family time, reading bible scriptures and watching romance movies. She was moved by the smell of fresh tulips, long walks on the beach, and the ocean views from her many family hikes up Discovery Bay Peak, Hong Kong. She also indulged in her love for French food, coffee with the ladies and traveling. But she will perhaps be best remembered for her selflessness - for always thinking of others first. She made this world an infinitely better place. Jackie will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Hong Kong Prince of Wales Hospital, AmMed Cancer Center, and CancerLink Central, and to relatives and friends for their prayers and love. A Christian Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, 8 July 2010 at 3:30 p.m. at the Union Church, 22A Kennedy Road, Mid-levels, Hong Kong. A private family memorial gathering will be held in Toronto in due course. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to CancerLink Central in Hong Kong. Jackie will remain forever in our hearts.
