James Annand Obituary

ANNAND, James Bruce - Died peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in his 95th year. Loving husband of Lois for 58 years, loving father of Sue Pott, Bruce (deceased), Bob, Mary (Des) Soye and Jane (Don) Luck. Dear grandpa of Christine and Laura Pott, Megan, Sarah and Katie Annand, Andrew (deceased), Conor and Julia Soye and Jessamine and Zara Luck. Predeceased by his sister Joan (Larry) Henderson and uncle to Graham (Margo) Henderson and Ross (Jane) Henderson. Brother-in-law to Muriel (Ron) Patterson and uncle to Lyn (Brian) Gannon and Paul (Leslie) Patterson. Bruce graduated from Queen's University Applied Science in 1940 as an Electrical Engineer and then served five years in WWII stationed in England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany as a Major in RCEME. After the war, he returned to work in the Oshawa Public Utilities where he worked for 40 years, the last 18 years as Manager. Many thanks to Bernadette, his caregiver for the last 2 years and to the CCAC, especially Debbie, Fami and Cathy. Also thanks to ParaMed for their caring help. We acknowledge and thank Veterans Affairs Canada and all the staff at Sunnybrook Veterans K2 West Wing where Bruce resided for 1 year under the care of Dr. Derenfeld and nurses Kathy, Stella and many others. Visitation will be held at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King St. E., Oshawa on Friday, February 26th from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place in the Armstrong Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 27th, to be conducted by Reverend Larry Doyle of Faith United Church where Bruce was a member.
