James Cherrier Obituary

JAMES FULLER CHERRIER After a long and brave battle with cancer, Jim Cherrier in his 79th year on Thursday, December 4, 2008 passed away at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital much as he lived, in graceful peace, and surrounded by his adoring family. Jim was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, on July 6, 1930, and attended Upper Canada College and Carleton University. His Royal Regiment of Canada mates will recall Jim as a serving officer, and before that as a Captain in the Cameron Highlanders in Ottawa; and his Toronto Star Syndicate colleagues will recall his 36 years of leadership. Yet, ever devoted and supportive, Jim may well permit his greatest joy was his first and last glance on Marni Cherrier, his loving wife of 53 years, and daughters Kim and husband Larry Andrews and children Ryan, Kelley, Casey, and Jill Cherrier and spouse Rob Snowball. In lieu of flowers, his family would be grateful for donations to Princess Margaret Hospital or the Oakville Hospital Foundation. Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at St. Jude's Anglican Church, 160 William Street, Oakville, on Monday, December 8th at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. There will be a visitation at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville (905-844-3221) on Sunday, December 7th from 3 to 5 p.m.

Hi Aunty Marnie, Kim and Jill:
Although we haven't seen each other in quite a long time, when we heard about uncle Jim's death, I felt that I had to express my condolences. It was obvious that you were a close family and you will cherish the memories that he created for you.
