JAMES HIGGINS Obituary

HIGGINS, JAMES "JIM" PATRICK It is with immense sadness that we share with you that Jim passed away peacefully, at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, having fought bravely in his 3 year-battle with cancer, on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the age of 67 years. Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Tamara (nee Rudnicki), who was his "Florence Nightingale" during his heroic struggle with cancer. He is the father of Adam James (Stephanie Dobson) and grandfather to Sebastian James Patrick. Son of the late Edna Agnes Higgins (nee Sylvester) and the late James John Higgins. Brother to Michael (Joanne Carrelli), Eileen (Peter Content), Donald (Linda Griffiths), Maureen (Larry O'Connor) and loving uncle to many, many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jim was born July 10, 1955 in Montreal, Quebec and was a graduate of Loyola High School and Concordia University. Jim had an outstanding career in senior financial positions, mostly in the automotive industry, including the Chief Financial Officer of Nissan Canada. Jim was very passionate about several areas including: the family historian, spending many hours detailing the family ancestry going back to 1660 in Quebec and Ireland. He was very proud of his Irish, French and English heritage. Jim was very active with the Provincial and Federal Liberal Party. Jim greatly cherished and enjoyed every opportunity to spend time with his immediate and extended family whenever possible. He recently became a "Grandpa" and was overjoyed with every moment he could spend with his beloved Sabastian. Jim's many other interests and hobbies included a great passion for reading the history of the Vikings and England, and, also music, astronomy, geography, and sports. He was an intensely loyal Montreal Canadiens hockey fan. He loved golf and spent many years sharing rounds with family and friends. Visitation is on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Glen Oaks Funeral Home, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville. A Funeral Service will be September 22, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Matthew's Parish, 1150 Monks Passage, Oakville, with a Reception to follow at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society of Canada.

Having worked with Jim at Nissan I always appreciated his down to earth approach to business. Every company needs a great finance person to keep the sales and marketing folks based in reality. He did that with all of us! Thoughts to his family during this difficult time. I was honored to know and work with him.

One of the best things about working at Nissan was meeting Jim and finding out he was family (my father and his mother were cousins). We were fortunate enough to meet occasionally over the years and delve more into our mutual family tree. So many fond memories. Condolences to the rest of the Higgins side of the family.
