James McKenzie Obituary

JAMES KEVIN McKEE McKENZIE On Tuesday, April 28, 2009 James took his own life at his home at the age of 19 years. Beloved son of Lynda and Robert. Brother of Bryan and Kyle. Best friend of Catalina Contreras, Genevieve Ducharme, Elizabeth Manson, Logan Biller and of his canine companion for life, Swifty. Nephew of Debbie and Terri Asunma, Cindy and Richard Rogers and Thomas and Caralisa McKenzie. Grandson of Harry Adam McKenzie and his wife Muriel Ruth Auckland, and John Clayton McKee and his wife Suzanna Evelyn Judge. James was an enthusiastic and honoured member of the Queen's York Rangers and was about to join the regular Armed Forces to serve his country with pride. He was an avid and adventurous outdoorsman and a superb white water canoeist. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a caring individual who always held his head high, chest out and his 'teeth to the wind'. He was indeed a leader of men who always put the interest of the group ahead of his own. Friends may call at MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill (4th traffic light north of Major Mackenzie Drive) on Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Service at St. Mary Immaculate Church, 10295 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill on Saturday, May 2nd at 1:00 p.m. Cremation. James, you were such an amazing person and everyone will always remember you and your smiling face without a doubt in our minds. I saw you the day before any of this happened and everything seemed fine. I just wish I could have given you a hug and told you to stay strong and that everything would be ok. School, let alone Math class wont ever be the same without you man.

Jamesy, man oh man I don't even know what to say. You were an angel sent from above, you've changed my life in so many ways. Going to school is definately going to be harder, not being able to see you in the morning by your truck. I know your watching down on all of us here. We are all doing our best to stay strong, you've made our group of friends that much stronger. You are always going to be our soldier James. I miss you and I love you! * teeth to the wind *

I will never forget that first day that I met you. You came running down the stairs with that big smile on your face and introduced yourself. That smile left a huge imprint on my heart. It seems to run in your family. From the first day you treated me like you've known me forever. We may not have been close friends but just being friends with your brother and seeing you and hanging out made a huge impact on me. Never thought you'd leave so soon. The kindness , the warmth, and the smiles = ) you and your family hold in your hearts is truly amazing. God bless you, Bryan, Kyle and your mom and dad.

Jay, I will never forget all the amazing memories we had. I was lucky to know a person like you. Being your neighbour for all these years was amazing. I remember the random times when we used to hang out on the streets and try to play sports. I wasn't good, but you always gave me something to do. Even as we got older and everyone didn't hang out as much you made sure that you and I were still friends. We talked all the time at school, and you always continued to help me. It is going to be hard not to see your smiling face at school or even at home. You will never be forgotten and I will always miss you.
Rest in Peace James

Jay man. I'll always remember that amazing summer we had back when we were kids. Cliff jumping, hanging out in the camper, burning our school notes because we wouldn't need them anymore and roasting marshmellows over them. I'm going to remember you and that summer forever and I will miss you.

Although I did not know James personally, I will miss him! I saw him almost everyday at STL, and everytime I saw him he was laughing and smiling with that beautiful smile of his in the halls. Many times he held the door open for me while I was walking to my next class, and just that made my day.

God bless James, his family and friends, and may he watch over us all now in heaven. :)

On SQ, I remember how he made us laugh when we were feeling down, how he always showed enthusiasm and gave it his 110%. I don't ever remember him criticizing another person in the group, only encouraging them and passing on his motivation.

To all James' friends out there....nothing is ever bad enough to say goodbye this way. He left behind all of you, his family, and his platoon. Be at peace James, and watch over us all to make sure we make it through this life in one piece. We're counting on you. For all of you out there reading this guest book....I am sorry for you loss, and I pray to God that you all find your way, and find it safely.

R.I.P. James

To James' Family - I was walking my dog the day I saw the emergency vehicles in front of your house. I knew something awful happened. I don't know any of you well, only Swifty and I am sure he misses his buddy. Please believe that my heartfelt sympathy is with you, and I am sorry that you have to endure this.

God will walk you through this.

On our SQ course in August 08, McKenzie was the spirit of the entire course. He had so much character and enthousiasm, that he was forced to pass it off to everyone else, and then everybody gained confidence due to Mac's passion for the military. He is a man who will be missed by each and every person who has ever been close to him. RIP Mac, keep the rest of us safe from up above.
