Uncle Jim could always make you laugh; he had a quick sense of humor. As a kid, I always looked forward to spending time at his house during our visits to Canada. And when I finally moved here, looked forward to having a talk with him at whatever function we were at together.
He always had a way of making you feel comfortable around him. He will be missed for sure.
Aunt Lynda, Bill, Laura and Aunt Nonie our thought and prayer are with you.

My deepest sympathies for the entire Rainboth family in the loss of a very great man. He brightened and enlightened the days that I was fortunate to spend working with him and I recall that pretty much everyone who walked away after speaking with Jim had a smile & a chuckle, and likely learned something new from him as well. A man of integrity, honour and a wealth of knowledge that he shared graciously. He will be missed greatly

My sincere condolences to Lynda and family. "Uncle Jim," or "Jean-Luc" as I teased him (after Star Trek's Picard), was a tall, affable man with a twinkle in his eye. It's been over 20 years since I've seen Jim, but I will always remember him, and the Rainboths, during my year at Carleton in 1991 as their comfortable suburban home became a refuge of sorts from my dank, subterranean Glebe student digs. He was always joking, an almost wry British sort of humour he possessed - but completely lacking of affectation. The kind of man that anyone would warm up to almost immediately - the kind of man one would be honoured to call friend. He will be missed.

My days of knowing "Jimmy" as I always called him, go back to his days with Sam Ryan and my days as an Insurance Broker at Ault, Kinney, Campbell and Gallichan. That was 50 years ago and we often would run into each other regarding a claim or seeing him at an Insurance function. He was a great, great guy and we always had a good laugh. Judi Gray
