It has been a week now, since we, your Toronto family laid you to rest, to be with your mother and father. We met your beautiful son who has grown to be such a fine young man. We felt the sadness of your brothers, Mark and John, and we all shared in the sorrow of losing you, far too young. We knew you as Jamie and we wished to see you again at a family cottage reunion, or at Christmas, sometime, someday. It wasn't to be, and we know that if wishes were meant to be, you would have made it happen. Last Saturday, we smiled as we shared our memories of you, we listened as Tahlon played your favourite songs, and we wept as Tahlon played Halleluyia, by Jeff Buckley. We thank Mark and John and Tahlon for doing whatever they could to lessen your pain and to help you through your struggle with cancer. We respect your spirit of independence and your need to live as a lone romantic cowboy in the Wild West, but we would have liked you to stay with us, just a bit longer. We will remember you always and miss you forever, and the next time I am at The Lion On The Beach, I will drink in remembrance of you Jamie. xoxo Your cousin Beth, who will always be 11 months older than you, as you always reminded me.
