JAN POOT Obituary

POOT, JAN January 13, 1944 to June 20, 2022 It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Jan Poot, retired lawyer and former Councillor of the City of Vaughan, at the age of 78. Jan died of aspiration pneumonia, caused by brain disease. He is survived by his wife, Maria Pede; his children, Jay, Robin, Sarah, Adam and Matthew. He leaves his grandchildren, Morgan, Riley, Liam, Holly, Sienna and Jan Jr. He will be missed by his sisters, Anne Westerhoek, Sita Broesma, Rita Gerber, Jean Williams and Jeanette Ostlander; by his brothers, Leen, Arie and Ben Poot; and by his many nieces and nephews. Jan is predeceased by his parents, Leendert and Maria Poot, and by his sister, Joanne Luinstra. Many thanks to the friends and relatives who supported Jan throughout his illness. Special thanks to the staff at Sheridan Villa and Kipling Acres for their kindness and assistance. In accordance with Jan's wishes, a private family memorial has taken place. In lieu of flowers or donations, please plant a flower in your own garden in remembrance of Jan.

Ik ( Leen van Dorp) heb Jan niet echt gekend, maar zijn zus Rita Gerber wel.
Jan was een volle neef van mij.
Ik woon in Nederland.

So sorry to hear about Jan. Being a part of the Woodbridge community was special and Jan was certainly a part of it, as were my parents, Don and Sandra Morrison and myself, Heather. My dad passed Sept. 25, 2021 and my mom is in LTC with brain disease also. So sad that these special people have to go like this. My kids Rich and Tom knew Adam I believe. I found this one photo my mom had with Jan in it. I'll let my my know he passed away, her condolences through me.
