JAN SCHOUTEN Obituary

JAN HENDRIK PETER (HENK) SCHOUTEN Born in the Netherlands on October 4, 1920. Married to Jenneke (Jenny) Heijstek on May 9, 1947. Immigrated to Canada on April 29, 1953. Henk's goal was to live to be 100 years old, just like his mother. Though there were countless times when he thought he may not reach this milestone, the doctors at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington added many more years to his life. Many thanks for the love and care given to him in the last year and half at Mount Nemo Christian Nursing Home in Burlington, Ontario. Henk enjoyed a full life and passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the age of 96. He enjoyed travelling, antiquing, crafting and entertaining friends with his wife Jenny. He loved to garden, watch soccer and be in the know of all the world events. He had a passion for knowledge and could not let a day go by without indulging in the stories from his Toronto Star newspaper. Henk, Dad, Opa and Great-Opa, was a mentor and a guiding strength to all of those that he so effortlessly touched. He will be greatly missed by his wife, family and friends. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Collingwood, Ontario - 41 Concession # 6.

It was an honour to take care of such a kind man. He is a man of integrity and someone who had shown such passion and love to his wife Jenny. I will miss him dearly.
