JANE LACKNER Obituary

JANE CAROL LACKNER (nee BOXALL) January 26, 1937 to May 21, 2014 "I hope I come back reincarnated as an opera singer or ballet dancer. If not I hope there is a heaven so I can look down and see you all. I love you." Unexpectedly passed away at her home in Scarborough, Toronto at the age of 77, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Loving mother to Susan, Kristin, and Jeffrey; and her beloved dog "Maya". Best grandmother ever to Rachel. Also survived by her cousin Bruce. Bill joined the Canadian Air Force as a pilot in 1939 during the Second World War. In 1949 her parents bought their first house at 11 Leonard Circle in Toronto's Beaches neighbourhood where Jane grew up. Williamson Road was her first school where she passed grades 6, 7 and 8 in 2 years. Then on to Malvern Collegiate, then Victoria College, University of Toronto where she earned her Bachelor of Arts. Jane met Kenneth Lackner in Banff, Alberta one summer while both were working summer jobs at the Banff Springs Hotel, they were married on September 30, 1961. While renting a family friend's house on Blantyre Avenue they had Susan and Kristin. In 1968 they bought a "Funny" Cottage on Pigeon Lake near Buckhorn, Ontario and 134 Fallingbrook Road, Toronto where Jeff was born. Years after their divorce, Jane moved with TransCanada Pipelines to Calgary, Alberta, as a valued Human Resources Manager, retired, then moved back to Toronto in 1999, where she continued her active social life spending time at her friends' cottages, later life learning and swimming classes, theatre nights and dinners. Jane was a vibrant, jovial woman. She is survived by a loving network of family and friends who will sorely miss her generous nature and practical approach to life. You will be forever in our hearts Jane, we love you too! "I hope I went gently into that good night. If not I hope I went with a bang, not a whimper!"
