Janet SAUNDERS Obituary

SAUNDERS, Janet (Jo) Norris Our precious wife, mother, grandmother and sister Janet "Jo" Saunders (Brown), passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018, in her 76th year. She was born in London, Ontario on August 23, 1942 to Stuart (1962) and Velma (1994). Predeceased by her sister Anne Louise (2014) and lifelong friend Pat Lougheed (2016). She is survived by her always devoted husband Carl, her sister Helen Ruth, daughter Julie (Greg) LeBreton and 2 beautiful granddaughters Jessica and Madeline. Also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Having lived life to the fullest while she was able, Jo was stolen too early by the demon Alzheimer's. A loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother she always put her family's needs ahead of her own. She was a woman full of love, grace, kindness and compassion. Her family is deeply saddened at the loss, but comforted knowing that she is finally at peace. Being a passionate Teacher and later a Volunteer, brought more "family" into her life and made all those she knew more fortunate. She is fondly remembered by all the friends she made as a Teacher at E.C. Drury School for the Deaf and as an Itinerant Teacher with Peel District School Board. The family is grateful for the compassionate care of Dr. Barbara Clive, as well as each and every member of the fabulous team at her most recent home, The Village of Erin Meadows. An opportunity to visit, enjoy fellowship and share good memories will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home (3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, ON) on Saturday, February 24th, 2-5 p.m., with a short memorial service at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society Peel, a favourite charity of yours or by remembering Jo in a kindness to another. Hello Carl. I hope that you remember me. I'm Robyn Sandford. She was my first teacher at the Ontario School for the Deaf now called ECDury in 1963.
She is still my favourite teacher.
I'm very sorry. My condolences to you.

Hi Carl. So sorry to hear about Jo's passing. For some reason, I was thinking about you and Jo and the fun times we shared skiing. Teaching with Jo at ECDrury Jr school was a wonderful opportunity fir me as a young teacher to learn from one who was such a compassionate teacher so willing to share her craft. Her smile and her sense of humour would light up the staff room. Wishing her peace. May her light shine in your hearts always. Sending you and 6pur family big wrap around hugs.
