JANICE GRIFFITHS Obituary

JANICE ELSA GRIFFITHS Slipped away quietly on Saturday, October 27, 2012 in Sunnybrook Hospital's Palliative Care Unit. Jan was born in Surrey, England on August 7, 1934 to Mabel and Ronald Bugge. She came to Canada in the late 1950's, and worked for many years with INCO, latterly as Manager of Corporate Contributions . She leaves behind her loving husband Peter Griffiths of 39 years, her devoted sister Shirley (Topsy) Beer and will be sadly missed but never forgotten by her four step-children: Peter, Jack, Bill, Deborah (and Joe) as well as eight grandchildren: Jodi (Sean), Kelly (Hub), Danielle (James), Christopher, Gavin, Dustin, Colin, Brittany; and five great-grandchildren: Kean, Dylan, Gabe, Lucy and Liam. Jan was enthusiastic about Canada's culture - its art, literature, music, ballet and theatre, which she supported strongly, especially the Women's Art Association of Canada. Internationally she travelled extensively to visit galleries and museums. She also cared deeply about all animals and their welfare. There will be a Memorial Service for family and friends on Friday, November 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Visitation Centre 373 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, east gate entrance, north of St. Clair Avenue, 416-485-5572, with a reception to follow. A donation in Jan's memory may be made to The Owl Foundation or a charity of your choice relating to animal care.
