Best mother-in-law ever. Jean taught me how to boil an egg, make and preserve jams and jellies, and can tomatoes. After we moved to Mulmur, she took driving lessons so she could get her license and drive up from Toronto to visit us. She cooked fiddleheads for us (bleugh) and made the best fruit salad ever. If there is a heaven, I bet she and Emma are sitting up there making apple pie together and talking about Emily Carr. I will always miss her.

Your Mom was quite a busy lady.

I have many pleasant memories of Jean and her love of music. My daughter Susan loved her music classes and I was so grateful for her encouragement and patience, as I cannot read a note. If there is a Choir of Angels, I am sure she will be a happy member.

So sorry to hear of Jean's passing. She was a gracious lady and devoted wife and mother. She took me on as an adult student of music and also taught my 3 children to play the piano. She will be missed walking along Queen Street, stopping to chat, etc.
Thanks for the memories, Jean.

Sincere condolences to Mrs. Collins' family. Mrs. Collins was a truly lovely person. I was her piano student for about 8 years in the late 80s and early 90s. Mrs. Collins taught me through five RCM grade exams, and all my theory classes. Most importantly, she taught me through her group piano classes, recitals and other opportunities to play for and with others that music is a joy to be shared. I always enjoyed meeting her and seeing her wonderful smile when we would bump into each other on the street and in the shops, even as an adult. I think of her fondly, and often, and will always remember happily the hours spent in her piano room overlooking the ravine behind the Collins home.
