Joanie Conover Obituary

JOANIE LOUISE CONOVER Peacefully at home in bed surrounded by loving family and friends on Friday, April 2nd. In her 55th year, Joanie left us all too soon and full of amazing memories of her incredible spirit. She will be sadly missed by her husband Steve, daughters, Samantha (Leo) and Stephanie (Lee), brothers Toby and Joe, sister, Sally, mother, Barbara, numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws Hugh and Janet, and many dear friends. Her life took her through performing Children's Theatre as Winnie the Pooh at the Poor Alex, school at Jarvis Collegiate, touring Nova Scotia in Neptune Theatre's 'Godspell', to a career in Public Relations at the Royal Ontario Museum and working with chronic pain sufferers in a Mindfulness Based Chronic Pain Management program at St. Michael's and Sunnybrook Hospitals. She was also a proud part owner of the Pilot Tavern . Full of warm humour, care and empathy, she listened to and helped many people. She was truly a gorgeous shining star. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 10th, at 11 a.m. at Rosedale United Church, 159 Roxborough Dr. A Reception will follow on the 2nd floor and Roof Deck at the Pilot Tavern, 22 Cumberland St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Dear Steve,
I so much wanted to attend Joanie's service but was called to NYC. Our attempts to hunt you down at lunch and troubleshooting computer issues defined our relationship. In the many conversations we had, Joanie often expressed how much you meant to her - you were her night in shining armour. My thoughts are with you. XO Maureen

Steve, I'm deeply sorry and sad that you've lost Joanie. I'm sorry, but I had no idea that this was happening to you and your family. I've always been the last to know what's going on. And yet again. My heart goes out to you and your girls, you're in my thoughts. Lots of love, Lise.
