BERTRAM, John Frederick - Peacefully into spirit at home in Peterborough, January 29, 2009 in his 96th year. Beloved husband of Valena Maria (nee Tronchin) and the late Pauline Marie (nee Paul, predeceased 1995). Dear father of Paul (Joceline), Frances (Alain), Brian (Brenda), Monica (Brian), Chris and step-father of Larry (Annie) and Jacquie (Joe). Loving grandfather of Jennifer, Sue, Catherine, Simon, Emily, Drew, Martin, Michelle, Adrienne, Luc, and step-grandfather of Duane, Jennifer, Jacob, Dan, Shawn, and Anita. Proud great-grandfather of Joshua, Brandon, Parker, and step- great-grandfather of Alyssa, Kieran, Marshall, Jeff, Jaclyn, and Mitchell. Brother of Frances Ward (predeceased), Robert Bertram (predeceased), and Helen Briers. John will be fondly remembered by his daughters-in-law Gail and Lorrie, step-grandson Geoffrey, his many nieces and nephews, and all his dear friends at Lake Vista Condominiums. John served as a pilot with the RCAF in WWII. He later worked as a senior manager at Honeywell Controls for over 40 years. He was active with the Cathedral of St. Peter-in-Chains Property Committee, the Knights of Columbus and the Board of Directors of the Lake Vista Condominiums. Family and friends may gather at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Parish Prayers will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at the CATHEDRAL OF ST. PETER-IN-CHAINS, 411 Reid Street, Monday, February 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Interment Rosemount Memorial Gardens. If desired, donations in memory of John may be made to the Cathedral Church of St. Peter-in-Chains Perpetual Fund or the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
