BUTCHER, John David - (Past Master of Wellington Lodge No. 271 AF & AM, Erin, D.D.G.M. 1982, member of Waverley and Royal City Daylight Lodge, Guelph Valley Scottish Rite, and the Shrine Club all in Guelph, Moore Sovereign Consistory, Hamilton, 33rd Degree member of the Supreme Council, member of the Royal Order of Scotland, and member of the Guelph-Wellington Men's Club) Peacefully at Norfolk Manor in Guelph on Monday, September 21, 2009, Dave Butcher of Guelph, formerly of Hillsburgh, in his 77th year. Dearly loved husband and companion of Betty Fludder for over 55 years. Loving father of Susan Loker and her husband Russ of Mitchell, South Dakota, Blair Butcher and his fiancée Darlene Weatherall of Hillsburgh, and Kelly Cronin and her husband Keith of Kitchener. Predeceased by son John (1966) and daughter-in-law Jean (2006). Cherished grandpa of Ryan, Troy, Kevin, Shannon, Bryce, Carla, Adriana, Jessalyn and Noah. Predeceased by his brothers Norman, Harry and Robert. Survived by sister-in-law Ruth Butcher of Shelburne. Dave will be sadly missed by his extended family and friends. Dave and Betty came to Hillsburgh in 1959, and for the next 34 years worked side by side in their Furniture Store and Funeral Home, and built the existing Funeral Home in Erin in 1984. They retired in the early 90's and moved to Guelph. Dave's family will receive friends for visitation at the Butcher Family Funeral Home, 5399 Main Street, South, Erin on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Hillsburgh on Saturday, September 26 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Reid Chudley and Rev. Jim Ball (from Harcourt Memorial United Guelph) officiating. Interment Huxley Cemetery Hillsburgh. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday evening at 9 p.m. If desired donations to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Hillsburgh, Harcourt Memorial United Church in Guelph, Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto, or charity of choice, would be appreciated as expression of sympathy.
