John DeSipio Obituary

DESIPIO, John David —

1947 - 2015

On Thursday, January 22, 2015, John DeSipio, 67, passed away after a six-month illness, comforted by the enormous outpouring of love and support of many wonderful friends and colleagues. John was a Partner Emeritus in the Toronto law firm of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, having recently retired after a 40-year career. John was most proud of his 42-year marriage to his best friend, Janis and of their two daughters, Alison and Laura. He was the younger brother of Nick, of Victoria Harbour. John's unique sense of humour will be fondly remembered by all. He was often irreverent, but always kind-hearted, loyal and generous. Cremation has taken place and John will be interred at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, alongside his parents, Nick and Norah DeSipio and his beloved Auntie, Sue Kisby. A celebration of John's life will take place on Friday, January 30, 2015, at 3:00 p.m., with visitation from 2:00 p.m., at Metropolitan United Church, 56 Queen St. E., Toronto.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Pathways to Education Regent Park or the Alzheimer Society of Ontario. Online memories, service and donation details available through www.etouch.ca

I remember John from both working with him at Imperial Oil, and from going with him to see his beloved Blue Jays while sitting in his seats above the visiting team dugout. I have a picture of him from a golf tournament that brings smiles to my face. I always appreciated his sense of humour. I take solace that his memory will live on with the scholarship at the U of T law school. My condolences go out to Janis and his two girls - your husband and father touched many people.
