JOHN EUGENE (GENE) FARLEY 1933 - 2012 With his family at his bedside, Gene passed away peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2012 after complications following heart surgery. Beloved husband and best friend of Donnie (nee Sadleir), proud father of Sarah (Don Macintosh), Mike (Suzanne Brown), Andrea (Marcus Hulton). Loving Papa of Ellie, Emma, Andrew, Daniel, Noah, Jordie, and Ethan. Gene will also be greatly missed by his extended family - niece Wendy and Doris Low. Gene graduated with an Honors BA Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario in 1956. He obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1959, this was followed by a 37 year career at Deloitte and Touche. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1988. In addition, Gene served on the boards of directors, and numerous committees, of many not-for-profit organizations including: Junior Achievement of Canada, the Bishop Strachan School, Senior People's Resources in North Toronto Inc. (SPRINT), Ewart Angus Homes, and Eglinton St. George's United Church. Gene also contributed his time and expertise through assignments with Canadian Executive Services Organization (CESO) in Moscow and Prague. Gene enjoyed countless happy summers at the family cottage on Lake of Bays, whether at family dinners, having cocktail hour on the SS Paddington, playing tennis or golf, taking kayak rides, or walking to get the paper with his grandkids. Gene had many good and long term friends that were dear to him, and he and Donnie thoroughly enjoyed their many travels together, especially their recent trip to Montreal. We will all miss Gene's sense of humour, deep respect for others, and unwavering integrity in all that he did. He was a true gentleman.
