I knew John through a mutual friend while he and I were both students attending the University of Saskatchewan. Regretfully, I cannot say a spent a whole lot of time with him but enough time to appreciate that he was a wonderful human being, who even back then, possessed a maturity well beyond his years. I remember him has being engaging and socially generous, and modest to a fault. While after graduation we each went our separate ways I would occasionally get news of John´s daunting professional accomplishment of which I was never surprised. Belatedly, I regret his passing but take solace that he added so much value to the lives of others; which I am confident provided him the precious satisfaction that comes with a life well lived.

Dr hall operated on me for a severe curvature of 140 degrees at sick kids in 1969. I couldn't wear pants at that time. Then I wore a brace for a year. I've gone on to have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. I'm so grateful to him.

Sending my condolences to the Hall Family.
I met Dr Hall when I was a short few weeks old. I was born March 8, 1973 and was put up for adoption from birth. I will forever be grateful to have been blessed with Dr Hall being a state foster child. I was born with two club feet one being the worst club foot he had seen at that time, dislocated hips, amniotic bands on my leg and left hand resulting in a major left hand birth defect. I was a mess when Dr Hall met me. Through out my childhood, He performed several reconstructive operations, bracing techniques, casting techniques and more operations. He was a significant part of my childhood, some years I saw him on a weekly and monthly basis.
I was 16 when I saw him for my last surgery and that was turning point of him " letting me off to walk with on my own" unless I needed him or something went wrong.
When I was 31, some things came up and I went to see him now as a grown woman. I needed some fixing but made me aware that he didn´t perform surgery anymore. I was saddened to hear I would have someone else performing surgery but he referred me to a young doctor who had done residency with him. Dr Hall was confident and assured me it would be ok. I had the surgery with Dr Chiodo at Brigham and Womens when Iwas 32.
Today, I´m 48 and I´m sitting in Dr Chiodo´s waiting room to be seen again for some fixing. This visit made me google search Dr Hall and I am saddened to see that he has passed on. The world was fortunate and blessed to have been graced with Dr Hall. He will always hold a piece of my heart. He is my hero.
Rest In Peace Dr Hall.
A very grateful patient.

I have just read of the passing of Dr. Hall, who for most of my life has been one of my heroes (second only to my own father). At the age of 15, Dr. Hall began a series of leg operations (totaling 8) which enabled me to walk. At the age of 59, I can still walk. Through each surgery, he carefully made incisions so my scars would be minimal. Besides being thoughtful of a way an insecure teenage girl would look, he was always looking out for my overall well being. He was gentle, kind, encouraging, and confident that he could fix me.The last time I saw Dr. Hall was when I was in my late 30s. I had to bring my daughter to Children's to have her spine looked at (everything was fine), but he was there teaching. He asked me if I could show my legs to his students, which of course I did. He sat next to me and held my hand. I will carry Dr. Hall in my heart for the rest of my life. Thank you for sharing him with me.

I was a patient of Dr. Hall's for many years. He performed three surgeries on my club foot in the late 1970s, after prior doctors had operated on me since the time of my birth. In our family, he was revered as an amazing doctor and an even more amazing man. His demeanor, gentleness, and medical expertise were a tremendous comfort to both me and my family.
When my brother was also born with a club foot, he was able to operate on him from the very beginning of his life, saving him from having the many scars I had endured prior to being his patient.
Many years later, as an adult, I met an orthopedist in Raleigh, NC who had trained under him. I showed him the photo I have attached here, which was taken for an article about his work at Boston Children's Hospital.
I was so sorry to learn of Dr. Hall's passing, although after reading the tribute of his life, I know he lived a full and good life. My family and I are so incredibly grateful for the role he had in our lives. We extend our sympathies to his family and thank them for sharing him with us and the world.

I was the 19 person to have my hip fixed by Dr. John Hall at the age of 10 and then again at the age of 13 I am now 47 and still have yet to have a hip replacement as I was born with our a socket and he made me a socket with my own bones. He was an amazing Dr and I will never forget him....

Dr. Hall did spinal fusion for our daughter, Abigail, at age 15. He kept her out of a wheelchair so she could graduate from Michigan State Medical School, marry a wonderful M.D., have a darling boy and now is pregnant with another baby. She and her husband are doctors in Rangely, Colorado. We thank God for Dr. Hall not only for his world renown capabilities but also for his kind and loving character. His passing is a great loss for this world!!

To Dr. Hall's family....My deepest sympathy on Dr. Hall's passing. He was such an amazing man. He cared for my son John for many years at Children's Hospital in Boston and I was always in awe of his gentle manner. He was such a caring man and I saw the respect that he earned from each group of residents that he trained. They wanted to emulate him. There are so many children out there, my son included, who have a better quality of life because of Dr. Hall. He touched so many lives.
