JOHN HERNDON Obituary

JOHN JOYCE CARTER HERNDON John Joyce Carter Herndon of Waupoos, ON, Canada. Died on April 15, 2014. Born in Manhattan, New York in 1931. John lived in New Zealand, Rio, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Milan, Italy, Connecticut, USA and Mulmur, ON, Canada. The ever charming John leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years Tidi B. Herndon. Predeceased by his son John Hearst Herndon and survived by both of his step-children Andrea Pinto and Silvio Pinto, their wives and collectively their 4 children. John graduated from Yale with honors with a natural aptitude for languages which would stand him in good stead for all his travels. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a very successful businessman with Rheem International, which became City Investing where he was Executive VP. John was a Commissioner of Agriculture under Connecticut Governor Lowell Weicker and after worked with Phoenix Home Insurance. His passion outside of work was for animals, particularly breeding angus cattle and horses. He was a member of many clubs and associations some of which are The Pilgrim Club, The Farmers Club, the Broock Club and The Stanwich Country Club. In addition to his family and friends he leaves a menagerie that will surely miss his dedication and attention. All who knew John for a day, week or lifetime will miss his warmth, kindness and interest. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on April 26, 2014 at St. John's Anglican Church in Waupoos, ON. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society and to Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children.
