JOHN KERR Obituary

KERR, DR. JOHN KIMBALL In Loving Memory Passed away peacefully, at Haliburton Hospital, on Monday, May 20, 2019. Predeceased by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 55 years, Madge (née Campbell). Dear father to John and his wife, Jocelyne, Lynda and her husband, Dave (Saracino) and Bill and his wife, Lisa. Predeceased by his cherished twin brother, Jim and older brother, David. Survived by his younger brother, Bill. John's love will be missed by his dedicated companion of seven years, Claudette Dupuis. John's affection, generosity and sense of humor will be forever remembered by his grandchildren, Christie (Adam Santucci), Steven, Ryan, J.J., Loretta, Alexandra and Beverley, as well as his adored great-grandson, River and his many nieces and nephews. John was a prominent dentist in Scarborough, Ontario, for more than 37 years. His generous, charitable spirit was dedicated to both The Rotary Club of Scarborough and The Rotary Club of Minden. John was an avid golfer who played the game for many years at Scarborough Golf & Country Club and Blairhampton Golf Club, as well as at his favorite Maple Leaf Estates in Port Charlotte, Florida. In his younger years, John's athleticism brought him and his twin, Jim, to Bridlewood Squash Club, where they both fulfilled their love of the game of Squash with good friends for many years. John was also a passionate runner, skier, wood carver and hunter for many years. For the past several years, John has enjoyed spending time in Shediac, New Brunswick, with Claudette and her family, but his very favorite place on Earth was always at his home on Mountain Lake in Minden, which he graciously shared with family and friends over many memorable years. The family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors at Haliburton Hospital for the dignity, compassion and care they bestowed upon John while in their care. Friends are invited to visit the family at the Gordon A. Monk Funeral Home Ltd., 127 Bobcaygeon Rd., P.O. Box 427, Minden K0M 2K0, on Saturday, May 25, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Service to Celebrate John's life at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Red Umbrella Inn, 1075 Red Umbrella Rd., Minden. Cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, if desired, memorial donations may be made to the Volunteer Dental Outreach for Haliburton County (VDO). My sister and I were regular patients of Dr. Kerr when we were growing up in Scarborough. He was always very pleasant and friendly and made the dental experience a positive one. My sympathies to his family and friends.

I am so very saddened to hear of the passing of Dr.Kerr. I started seeing him in 1963 and always thought I was his very favorite patient until I told a girl I went to school with. She looked at me and said that he had told her the same thing. Rest in Peace Dr.Kerr. You were one in a million. Lois Erwin Russell

Joan McPherson and family. He was one of the givers, never a taker. Thanks John, for your many kindnesses to us all.

My condolences to the Kerr family on John's
passing. I met John many many years ago when he and my brother, Doug Wilson, were courting the Campbell girls, Madge and Colly. It was a fun time and we all kept in touch over the years. I was saddened to hear of his passing. Will be thinking of you all on Saturday.

I was very sad to read that Dr. Kerr has passed away. He was my first dentist and I remember clearly that as a child, I was terrified - not of him, but just of going to the dentist since my teeth were not the best and needed a lot of work. He was the kindest man and such a gentle giant (at least to a 7 year old!) He told my Mom that it almost broke his heart when I would sit in his dental chair and a tear would roll down my face. I would not make a sound in front of him and tried to be very brave but I was so scared. He always did his best to put me at ease and eventually, I actually liked going to the dentist (still do!). I was sad when he retired but knew I was in good hands since his son Dr. Bill Kerr took over the practice. My heart goes out to Dr. Bill Kerr, all of his family and the 540 Dentistry family who I am sure will be feeling a big loss today. I am sorry that I am unable to pay my respects in person but I have a work function on Saturday that I need to be at but truly wish I could be there. You will be in my thoughts. Rest in peace Dr. Kerr and thank you.
