John McDIARMID Obituary

McDIARMID, John Nevin and Margaret Shirley John Nevin McDiarmid (May 23, 1935 to March 3, 2018) and his beloved wife Margaret Shirley McDiarmid (July 29, 1934 to November 14, 2017). Survived by their daughter Karen McDiarmid, son John and his wife Siobhan McDiarmid, Nevin's sister Judy Campbell and Shirley's brother John Kay and his wife Maureen as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Vancouver and Australia, two cats now living in Vancouver and close friends who have become part of the family over the past 40 plus years. Nevin, an avid golfer and artist, was born in Vancouver, moved to Toronto and became a Chartered Accountant where he spent most of his working career with the Government of Ontario. In retirement he spent happy years golfing, painting and working as a volunteer consultant with Toronto's Management Advisory Service (MAS). Nevin died of complications related to Alzheimer's in Michael Garron Hospital Hospital in Toronto. Shirley was born in Bolton, England and after moving to Toronto worked for several organizations including BTA and CRFA before retirement. A very sociable lady who could talk and laugh with anyone, she met Nevin on a blind date on St. Patrick's and their family was formed. An animal lover, and Shirley's favourite place was Hopkin's Landing on the Sunshine coast in BC. Shirley died peacefully in her sleep at their house in Toronto on Moore Ave. Both our parents will be sorely missed by their family, close friends and the numerous people who met and spent time with these wonderful, loving people.
