Remembering a wonderful brother.
Although most of my memories relate to the time before you left for Canada in 1958, we always kept in touch and I will hugely miss your regular letters and cards. I could always natter away to you about those things I tended not to discuss with anyone else and looked forward to your long chatty replies which we all loved reading. It's going to really tough accepting there will be no more landing on the mat.
But we must also reflect on and celebrate your very successful life and the world is going to be a much poorer place without you around. I will forever cherish the memory of those occasions we did manage to spend in each others company and especially the Hollyoaks days.
As we say in the cycling fraternity, I'll see you up the road.
All our love from Tim, Romana and the boys

John was our neighbour for 36 years. We enjoyed daily chats on gardening, the weather, family news and health concerns. John was always fiercely independent, routine-oriented and busy, frequently tip-tapping away on his trusty typewriter. He seemed cheerful and positive, even when things were not always going well.
John was a great neighbour/friend to have had for such a long time and we will really miss him.
Cheers to you, John, and may you rest in peace.
Sincerely, Susan Hogarth and David Ross
