John applied that brilliant, logical, rational, evidence based engineering mind to all aspects of his life life. He donated to and volunteered in election campaigns; he attended protests to promote social justice; he wanted improved equal opportunities via lower tuition, dental and drug care. He felt every job had dignity and deserved a living wage. He was immensely grateful that he had a career that he loved, yet he resigned once because his employer made an unethical, irresponsible decision. He was highly respected by his professional colleagues. He will be missed.

John was a wonderful influence on our small team of Software Engineers, first at Martin, Mecubbin and laterly at Wardrop Engineering. A true team player, openly sharing his ideas and providing leadership in many ways. He became a real friend to many of us on the software team. Carly & I will remember John for his frank opinions and humourous ways of expressing them. We send our thoughts and prayers to his family, in particular Phillip who we met only very briefly. We are thinking of him as we know the funeral is in progress. God Bless John.
