JON HAND Obituary
HAND, JON FRANCIS Jon passed away after a stroke, with his family by his side on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Credit Valley Hospital. He was 85 years old. Married to Marion (Teskey) for 64 years. Proud father to Jim (Marianne), Chris, Catherine, and David (Lynn). Grandfather to his boys: Cory, Andrew, Alex, Malcolm and Tyler. Survived by his sisters, Beverly Hand, and Dorothy (Gerb) Jongerden. Uncle to his nieces, Lisa Teskey and Tracy Jongerden (Paul Mease); and nephew, David Jongerden (Lisa King), and their children: Tyson, Max, Samara, Abby and Andi. He was predeceased by his father, Bill; and mother, Ruth. Jon was born and raised in Grimsby, Ontario. He married Marion and moved to Prince Edward County, where they raised their family, before moving to the GTA. Jon had a passion for thoroughbred horse racing. He loved cigars, hunting, fishing, dogs, and recently his backyard visitors, "Red" the squirrel, the rabbits and the cardinals. He was an entrepreneur who was involved in a wide range of businesses, from Nursing Homes, and a Fishing Lodge, to ATMs. Jon always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. He enjoyed meeting people. He was charismatic, authentic and unguarded. He was someone everyone remembered, a one of a kind! Jon travelled the world, with adventures to the Canadian Far North, to Russia to see Team Canada win in 1972, to Asia, Europe, and to the warmth of Barbados in the winter. He lived a good life. A life lived on his terms! Honouring Jon's wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be a private family Celebration of Life. We would like to thank Dr. Eisen, "Dr. Grace", Nucleus PSW's, CBI and the nurses at Credit Valley Hospital for their exceptional care. We are so grateful.
