Joseph DAYBELL Obituary

DAYBELL, Mr. Joseph Richard (Joe) - Passed away peacefully in Abbotsford Regional Hospital, surrounded by loving family on December 26, 2014 in Abbotsford, BC, at the age of 78. Joe is survived by his two children John Andrew Daybell of Vancouver, BC and James Edward (Ned) Daybell (Melissa) of Lisle, IL, his seven grandchildren Angela Daybell, Heather (Trevor Egeto), Tara Daybell and Lauren (Matt Heinemann) of Vancouver and Joseph, Kaitlyn and Logan Daybell of Lisle. Joe is also survived by five great-grandchildren Olivia, Madelyn, Lilah, Addison and Jesse of Vancouver. He was predeceased by his wife Carolyn Jane Daybell in 2012 and sister Jaqueline Henriksen in 2009. Joe was born on February 13, 1936 in Kingston, ON, to Veronica (Benkhe) and John Henry Daybell. Joe graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, NS, in 1958 with degrees in natural sciences and mathematics. He married his high school sweetheart Carolyn Jane Barrett in 1961 and was married for 51 years. Joe served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1959 to 1966. After a 25 year career with IBM, Joe started his own successful consulting business. Joe was a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (now the Barbershop Harmony Society) for over 44 years. He sang tenor in numerous choruses across North America. He loved singing Barbershop and last sang with the Dukes of Harmony and the Barons of Barbershop in Toronto before moving to Vancouver. A memorial service with family and friends will take place at a future date.
