JOSEPH E. TURNER 1924 -- 2011 On August 1, 2011, after a year of ill health, Joe Turner passed away peacefully in his sleep. Predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Bonnie. Joe was recently honoured for 70 years involvement in Scouting, including 25 years as Ontario Executive Director. Among other accomplishments, he implemented the Trees For Canada Program and received the highest scouting award from the Governor-General of Canada. Joe's other passion was his faith. Though I never had the pleasure of meeting Joe personally, I know his spirit lives on in his community both locally and globally through Scouting. His work will continue to benefit many generations of youth in Ontario and beyond.

I was saddened to hear the news about Joe; as a scout executive,I learned a lot from Joe on how to be professional Scouter through his wise counsel and direction. He provided strong and consistent leadership during his long scouting career. I know he will be missed. Please accept my sincerest condolences.
