Joyce DaDalt Obituary

JOYCE IDA DaDALT (nee SIMONS) Passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, in her 80th year, at home on Friday, May 1, 2009. Beloved wife of the late Leo DaDalt, she leaves to cherish her memory, her children Paul (Wendy), Gary (Julie), Nancy (Bob), Gordon (Susan) and grandchildren Danielle, Devon, Deanna, Lawren, Robson. Sister to Don Simons (Terry) and the late Richard Simons (Edna) of Winnipeg, she will be missed by her extended Simons and DaDalt families of Winnipeg and Soletti family of California. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Joyce moved her family east to Toronto to provide a better education for her deaf son Gordon in 1969. She shared the entrepreneurial spirit with husband Leo for many years operating the Earl of Swich sandwich shop in downtown Toronto prior to retiring to her home of 36 years in Markham Ontario. The family would like to express thanks and appreciation for Mom's care to the medical and personal support staff from CCAC (York Region), CHATS and Evergreen Hospice. A special thanks to Carmen Leigh-Bennett who was not only her main support person, but became a cherished friend of the family. Visitation at DIXON-GARLAND FUNERAL HOME, 166 Main Street North (Markham Road), Markham on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Complete service in the Chapel Wednesday, May 6 at 1 p.m. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
