GORDON, Judith Lauder (nee Barford) - April 14, 1942 - July 19, 2011 Judy Gordon, 69 years, passed quietly surrounded by family and loved ones after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She will be terribly missed by Dave Gordon, her loving husband of 42 years, daughter Heather Gordon, son Bryan Gordon and grandson James, brother Peter Barford and sister Trish Barford. As well as her family, Judy will be missed by many, many friends and colleagues from all walks of life. Judy was born in Edmonton, AB and took her nurse's training at the University of Alberta. In this class she developed lifelong friendships among a caring and devoted cohort. She joined the military in 1966 where she met Dave, the love of her life. A military life followed their marriage with postings across Canada, Germany and the U.S., with a final posting in the Toronto area where she lived for almost 20 years. Three years ago Judy achieved a long standing ambition when she graduated from York University with a B.Sc. Nursing. Judy was a healer as well as a nurse. She worked in a number of different environments, but her passion was being a parish nurse. Here she found true meaning in her work and life by combining her nursing skills, spiritual beliefs and her love of people. She felt strongly that parish nursing provided inter-faith and community support for those most in need. A funeral will be held for Judy Friday, July 22 at Trinity Anglican Church, 79 Victoria Street, Aurora at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa on Tuesday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Compass Rose Society.
