KAREN SCANLAN Obituary

KAREN E. SCANLAN Of Eden Prairie, MN, passed away peacefully of natural causes on the early morning of Christmas Day 2013 at the Masonic Home Care Center in Bloomington, MN. Preceded in her journey to heaven by her parents Begga and Hannes Petursson; and brothers Jon and Gordon. Karen is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Frederick "Bud" Scanlan; and sons Scott and Craig (Lauren) Scanlan. Karen so much enjoyed wonderful culinary skills, card making and participating with great enthusiasm in Beta Sigma Phi, a charity dedicated woman sorority. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607-1460. Memorial Service Saturday, January 4, 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at www.Washburn-McReavy.com Eden Prairie Chapel, 952-975-0400, 7625 Mitchell Rd. (one block north of Hwy. 5).

To the family of our sister in Beta Sigma Phi, we are saddened by the loss of Karen. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Bud and family,
We were saddened to learn of Karen's passing. She was an absolutely lovely woman, so gracious and kind, prior to her illness. She couldn't have been a better friend. We're glad she is now pain-free and at rest with her Lord. We will miss her and will think of her often. God bless all of you.

Though we only knew Karen for a short time, she and 'Bud' welcomed us to Eden Prairie, helping us to settle quickly, and we have fond memories of times we shared with them both.
