HECKBERT, Karin - After a heroic battle with cancer, Karin passed peacefully while holding the hand of her loving husband John of 32 years on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre at the age of 53 years. Loving mother of Karin Lynda 'Kari Lyn' (Michael) Krech, John Henry (Johanna Peetz), Mary Anne (Dwayne) Mampe. Cherished Omi of Duncan and Jensen. Beloved daughter of Henry and the late Erika Bruhn. Dear sister of Michael (Vicky) Bruhn. Karin will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her family, friends and all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at HIGHLAND FUNERAL HOME - MARKHAM CHAPEL, 10 Cachet Woods Ct., Markham (Northeast corner of 16th Ave. and Hwy. 404), 905-887-8600. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of the World, 10411 Bayview Ave., Richmond Hill. A heartfelt thank you to all the many doctors and support staff that have helped Karin and her family throughout the years, especially Doctors Judith Gortler and Michael Kogon and the staff at the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre.
