KATERYNA PIDZAMECKY (nie SRAJCHUK) July 3, 1900 - July 3, 2008 Peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on July 3, 2008, the morning of her 108th birthday, at the Ivan Franko Home in Etobicoke. Beloved mother of Wasyl (Olga) and Karol (Mary), cherished grandmother to Katherine (Walter), Robert (Angelina) of St. Catharines, Christina (Rocco), Leon (Nancy) of Sylvan Lake, AB, Taras (Ulana), Raymond (fiancie Sandra), Thomas (Linda) and Michael, dear great- grandmother to Paul, Hanya, Nicholas (Michelle), Andrea, Aaron, Alexis, Kira, Rachael, Derek, Wasyl, Sophia and Oleksa, dear aunt of Myroslaw (Sue) of Sudbury, and Oryst (Marika) of Guelph and their families. Also survived by nieces and nephews in Ukraine. Born in Potochyshche, Horodenka Raion, Ivano-Frankivska Oblast, Ukraine where the bells of the church where she was baptised tolled on the day of her passing. Daughter of the late Semen and Sophia (nie Voloshchuk) Srajchuk. Predeceased by her husband of 52 years Franko in 1972, by her siblings Wasyl, Mykola and Maria in Ukraine, and by her daughter-in-law Anne Chmara in 1949. Kateryna arrived in Sudbury in 1935 with her two sons to join her husband who arrived in Canada in 1926. The couple later moved to Toronto, Ft. Erie and then Thorold where she resided until 2003 under the loving care of her grandson Robert, and where she was a long-time member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Life-time member of the Ukrainian Women's Organization of Canada. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Ivan Franko Home for the wonderful care they provided to Kateryna over the past five years. Resting at the NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, KIPLING CHAPEL, 2058 Kipling Avenue, north of Rexdale Blvd., Etobicoke from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Panakhyda Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Divine Liturgy Monday, July 7, 2008 from St. John The Theologian Ukrainian Catholic Church (91 Lakeshore Road, St. Catharines) at 11 a.m. The family will receive their friends in church from 10 a.m. until Divine Liturgy at 11 a.m. Interment Victoria Lawn Cemetery, St. Catharines. In lieu of flowers, donations to UNF Foundation (Youth Leadership Development Fund) or Ivan Franko Home would be greatly appreciated by the family. Blessed and eternal be her memory!
