KATHERINE GODFREY Obituary

SISTER KATHERINE GODFREY (SISTER M. BENEDICT) The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, (Hamilton), are saddened to announce the death of Sister Katherine Godfrey at St. Joseph's Residence, Dundas, Ontario on October 13, 2016, in her seventy-seventh year as a Sister of St. Joseph. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret (Sullivan) Godfrey, was born and grew up in the Irish Block, Grey Co. She was predeceased by her brothers James, Ted and Patrick. She is survived by her sisters Anna Farrell (Ajax), Alice and her husband Len Quigley (Pickering) and Marcella and her husband Bob Kovatch (Pickering) and her sisters-in-law Joan and Yvonne Godfrey. She will be remembered and missed by many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by the members of her religious family, the Sisters of St. Joseph. Sister ministered with dedication for 50 years in the healthcare field serving as a Medical Record Librarian and Department Manager at St. Joseph's Hospital in Guelph, as Director of Hospital Services, St. Joseph's Hospital Hamilton, as the Administrator of St. Joseph's Villa Dundas, as the Coordinator of Roxborough P.A.R.C. Multi-Service Centre, East Hamilton. She was also instrumental in developing the Heart to Heart Program for the Youth Justice Centre, Hamilton Detention Centre for teens 15-18 years. She also served four years as a member of the Hamilton Leadership Team. In recent years she has continued to volunteer with, much zeal and energy, at the Hamilton Detention Centre, as well as being involved in a ministry of prayer. The Sisters of St. Joseph will welcome family and friends at St. Joseph's Residence, 574 Northcliffe Ave., Dundas, on Friday, October 14th from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Residence, Dundas, on Saturday, October 15th at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada for works of the Community.

Gramma (Anna Farrell),
