FAST, Kathleen 'Kay' (nee Cressman) - Born in New Hamburg, ON, January 4, 1930, passed peacefully on the autumnal equinox, September 21, 2010, at the Carpenter Hospice in Burlington, in her 81st year. Predeceased by six brothers and sisters, and survived by her brother Glen Cressman of San Diego, California. Loving mother to Stephen, Laurence and his wife Christine, and Sylvia (Basso) and her husband Robert, grandmother to Ilyana Fast, and Jacob and Nicholas Basso, and dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. Kay was truly a renaissance woman, excelling in numerous careers over her lifetime: registered nurse, mother, artisan, business woman (Batik by Kay), healer, and urban organic farmer. She touched many lives, giving support, help, guidance, wisdom and positive energy to her many friends, neighbours, colleagues, and clients. The family would like to thank the staff of ComCare, and the Burlington Red Cross, especially Adrianna, for their sympathetic and outstanding home care, and all the staff and volunteers at the Carpenter Hospice for creating a tranquil, supportive environment for Kay and her family during her final days. Following a private cremation, family and friends are invited to celebrate Kay's life on Sunday, October 24th from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., in the Dalglish Atrium at the Royal Botanical Gardens Centre, 680 Plains Road West, Burlington (905-527-1158) www.rbg.com . In lieu of flowers, charitable donations to the Carpenter Hospice foundation in Kay's memory would be greatly appreciated
