Kathryn Brookman Obituary

BROOKMAN, Kathryn - At Markham Stouffville Hospital on Saturday, September 12, 2009. Kathryn was predeceased by her husbands William J. Brookman and Max Stefaniuk. Survived by her stepdaughter Lori and her husband Lt. Col. Christopher Conway and two granddaughters Maria and Niki Conway, and one nephew Patrick Mikuse. Friends will be received at the DIXON-GARLAND FUNERAL HOME, 166 Main Street North (Markham Road), Markham on Wednesday, September 16 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Michael's Hospital, Markham Stouffville Hospital or charity of your choice.

I was sorry to hear about Kay's death. I knew Kay when her first husband died. A group of widows were friends at that time. Over the years I have lost contact.

Another friend of that time called to tell me she saw the notice in the paper. Her name is Joan Jones.

I tried to contact another one of the friends from this time (someone who did keep in touch with Kay). Her name was Diane Dunstan who was now living in Peterborough. Much to my shock, her daughter called me back and told me Diane died suddenly on August 10th. She had lupus and died of conplications. Kay may have mentioned her to you. Through Diane, I heard all about Kay's life.

Again, I am sorry for your loss. I am sure both your family and Kay appreciated the time you were "family".
