I remember in the mid 1880's while I was the contractor farming out the building of our "chalet" in Ellicottville , Ken graciously let us use #1 Monroe or the "farm house" on about three occasions. Over the years I bought ski and hockey stuff from Kim and Ken at Corbetts and no where else. Every time I drive by #1 Monroe, I think of Ken let alone at Mardi Gras parade where he was the King !! Still is in my mind. Sorely missed.

I was 18 years old and had worked all summer to save money to purchase a pair of Kneissl skis. These skis where stolen mid season at Glen Eden. My Ski Season had come to an end and I had no money or insurance coverage to purchase another pair. This was a stressful situation to be in, I would have to sit the rest of the Ski Season out, missing the opportunity to ski. I approached Ken Brown explain my situation and he said "no problem". We when to a part of the shop were used skis where stored and indicated that I could pick out any pair using them free for the rest of the season. The only condition was that I purchase my new pair of skis off of him next fall, This when I worked my summer job and saved money for a new pair. I picked out a pair of Rossignol 102 Skis and continued to ski for the balance of the season. Next fall returned the skis and purchased a pair of Kneissl Super Stars that fall. I never forgot this act of kindness that Ken showed to me as teenage at that time. From that time onward I purchased all my personal skis from Corbett's. Ken Brown was always first when it came to business promotions in later years when I became Area Manager at Glen Eden. It is a connection with someone I never forgot to this day. Ken's contribution to Ontario skiing can not go unnoticed. The statement that the "King is with the Kings" is a very true statement.

My condolences to to the family, my family lived down the street from the Brown's and we had great friendships. KEn gave me my first job at 13 years old back in 1975. I worked for him for 4 years and made many friends from that time. Ken always took the time to tell a story or give some advice. He would test my handshake every week as he told me a strong handshake was an important first impression. RIP Ken!

Ellicottville will not be the same without the King. What a wonderful person who always had a smile for everyone. You would see Ken, and think to yourself, that man knows how to live life to the fullest. Sincere sympathy to his family and to all who knew this great man.

Sincere sympathy to the Brown family. Just remembering the good old days in Oakville, sitting around his kitchen table after skiing, eating his specialty ..onion soup. Great memories of him managing Stan Farlow's singing career, and the good old Riverside! He was a dear friend.

Our most sincere sympathy to the family. I'll always remember putting together his crazy ads for the Oakville Beaver. He sure made life fun for all. Thanks for the memories.

What a huge life. Ken touched thousands of people's live and made them happier, crazier, and better. The door was always open - whether you were some kid on his first job, a customer, or a lifelong friend having a drink in the kitchen, you always felt like he was glad to see you and that he was glad you were there. Ken lived on the edge, but he also dragged you out on the ledge with him. You might have loved it, or been totally embarrassed, but when it was all over you had a big grin on your face and a great story to tell. I miss him already, but I am sure glad I had a seat on the Ken Brown bus once in a while.
