Kerreigh Ernst Obituary

Kerreigh ERNST

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kerreigh Ernst at his home on September 16, 2016. Devoted husband for 48 years and best friend of Linda (nee Howick). Proud father to Shane and Ryan (Raelene) and doting grandpa to Bevin Elizabeth.

Kerreigh was born in England in 1942, to Veronica and Theodore. Kerreigh came to Canada at the age of 4 with his mother, a WWII war bride. Kerreigh would become the big brother to nine siblings and will be missed by Wayne (Brenda), Craig (Carla), Wendy, Ted (Judy), Tina (Bob), Mary-Anne (Jim), Monica, Joe and Tim (Cristel) and many nieces and nephews.

Throughout a lifetime of service Kerreigh touched the lives of many within the business, basketball and faith communities. Work that gave him purpose, meaning and great joy.

Friends and family will be received at Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Rd. W., Oakville, Ontario, Tuesday, September 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Funeral Service on Wednesday, September 21st at 1:30 p.m., Compass Point Bible Church, 1500 Kerns Rd. Burlington, Ontario.

Dear Linda, Shane and Ryan,
I was saddened to read of Kerreigh's passing in the Oakville Beaver. Our family lived across the street from you on Ulster Drive until my Dad, Dave Ross passed away in 2006. I always remember the friendly chats with Kerry in our driveway and watching him shoot baskets to pass the time. I always knew he kept a eye on my Mother and Dad as they grew old and I was very grateful for his concern for his neighbours. Again, I am sorry for loss. Duncan Ross

Dear Mrs. Ernst, Shane and Ryan,
I was so sorry to hear of your dad's passing just today. I have fond memories of growing up with you guys next door and all the fun we had. I remember the train set in the basement and our games of SPUD on the street until your Dad called you home. He was a man of great presence, integrity and kindness. I know he will be missed by many. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Linda, Shane and Ryan: Judy and I just learned of Kerreigh's passing and are shocked and very deeply sadden by this news.
We could not have been more blessed to have such wonderful neighbours, for so many years, as you and Kerreigh.
We have so many happy memories of "over-the-fence" conversations, enjoying your friendship and watching the boys grow into such fine young men.
Kerreigh was a straight shooter and extremely generous with his time, and we were proud to call him our friend.
Like everyone who knew him, we will miss him dearly, and we extend our deepest condolences to all of you.

I always respected Kerreigh and his perspectives especially his dedication in his business life to his clients and on the personal side to both his family and his extended family at The Yonge Street Mission. My condolences to you Linda and your family. Doug Hogeboom, Retired President & CEO, The Empire Life Insurance Company

To Linda and family, our deepest condolences on the passing of my friend and colleague Kerreigh, who brought dedication and passion to whatever he did. He provided families and businesses the advice they deserved and looked after the interests of all. His volunteerism with basketball, church and to the insurance profession with all the passion and compassion he could muster made a huge difference in the lives of many. We all honour the life and work of our friend Kerreigh. His faith in his Saviour will carry us all whilst we mourn his passing. RIP Kerreigh!
