Lena RENAUD Obituary
RENAUD, Lena Hélène, S.O.S. - Sister Lena Renaud died peacefully at the LaSalle Manor Retirement Centre, Scarborough, ON February 17, 2014 after a lengthy illness in the 65th year of religious life with the Sisters of Service. Born in McGregor, ON, one of the five children born to Ulric Renaud and Estelle Meloche. Predeceased by her parents, her brother Leo (Joyce) and her two sisters Elda (Aurel) Bellmore and Cecile (Alfred) Deslisle. She is survived by her brother Roy (Loretta), Essex and many nieces and nephews. Graduating from the Ursuline College High School in Chatham, ON in 1945, Lena entered the Sisters of Service in Toronto in January 1949. She received her Professional Teacher Training from the Department of Education, Winnipeg, MB in the early 1950s. In 1953, Lena was assigned to her first mission in Camp Morton, MB, where she taught in the district in various public schools until her retirement from the Gimli School Board in 1988. During those 35 years of teaching, she was not only teacher and educator but parish worker, social worker, friend and advisor. In 1988, she was appointed Superior of the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Service in Toronto, ON and later the Sisters of Service Mission in Regina, SK. In 2001, she retired to the Scarborough Retirement Residence and, in her later years, was a resident at LaSalle Manor until her death. She will be remembered for her simplicity, service and love of the poor. The Sisters of Service extend their sympathy to her family and many friends. May she rest in peace. Relatives and friends may call at LaSalle Manor, 61 Fairfax Crescent, Scarborough, ON on Friday, February 21th. Visitation will take place at 10 a.m., with the Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. presided by Rev. James Gauthier, SFM, in the LaSalle Manor Chapel. Interment in the Sisters of Service plot, Mount Hope Cemetery, Toronto, ON. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home, Toronto, ON.
