BIGNELL, Leslie Gordon - Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at Ian Anderson House after a beautiful afternoon on Saturday, August 3, 2013. Leaves to mourn Ruth, his best friend and beloved wife of 56 years, his daughters Dawn and Rosemary, his sons-in-law Rick and Marshall and his cherished grandchildren Tara, Laurie, Adam, Alanna, Alyssa and Lauren. Born in St. John's, Newfoundland on July 17, 1934, his 40 year career with Royal Bank took Les and his family to many cities across Canada as well as a secondment to Paris, France. Of all his successes in life, he took the greatest pride in the love and closeness of his family. His quick wit will be greatly missed by his many friends and relatives. Visitation will be held at the Glen Oaks Memorial Chapel and Reception Centre, 3164 Ninth Line (Dundas/403), Oakville, on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at St. Simon's Anglican Church, 1450 Litchfield Road, Oakville at 2 p.m., followed by a reception in the church hall. For those wishing to attend, interment will take place on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery, 1149 Dundas St. W., Oakville, at 10 a.m. Family will gather graveside at 9:45 a.m. Les requested that donations, in lieu of flowers, be made in his memory to support the New Oakville Hospital Foundation.
